The name “Fredonia” comes from a suggestion issued by engineer Tyrrel Moore, of English origin, who hinted at the English word “freedom” to designate the town. Contrary to what happened with the founding of many Colombian and Antioquia municipalities, carried out by Spaniards, the foundation of Fredonia then fell into the hands of important personalities of commerce, industry and politics from Medellín.

Fredonia has beautiful farms, large and small coffee producers, and also dedicated to teaching locals and strangers the process of growing and preparing a good cup of coffee. That’s why Fredonia not only gives us this amazing origin but also makes a great place to go visit and learn about coffee.
